Sollerets (Sabatons)

These were a custom order, and the client specified the motif of alternating metals and the Maltese cross on the toecap. They open at the heel by means of a hinge and spring-pin fastening. They are cut away at the ankle to allow lateral movement and are quite flexible. They are based on 15th C sollerets.

Curiously, making the patterns for these was among the most difficult of projects that I have undertaken. I ended up with enough scrapped lames to have almost made a second pair. ;)
